E-bike designer leading the charge against bike theft
Nelson Tasman business Hybrid Bikes‘ founder and owner Frank Witowski has been in the news again this month to raise awareness of the growing e-bike theft problem in Aotearoa New Zealand.
As the demand for e-bikes is currently outstripping supply (NZ e-bike imports are up to around 90,000 units per annum), Frank says that thieves are capitalising on this, and he receives at least two ‘suspicious’ phone calls a week from people looking to buy e-bike chargers – the crucial part thieves will be looking for when selling on an e-bike.
